Where does the time go!

First off, can you believe that June is almost over!! I swear as soon as I graduated time sped up and is just flying by way too fast! Sure in some ways it's been good because I'm getting closer and closer to being done with school. I know I still have a few years left but each day is one step closer. I'm sorry I haven't been blogging any but I have been just soooo busy. When I do have free time it's probably spent sleeping! Hopefully things will settle down some day but as of right now I'm not seeing that!

Anyway....

This last Wednesday I went to the first goat show of the year and first one in about 3 years. About 4 years ago I switched to showing pigs and retired from the goat showing. We then sold all of our goats and it was the first time in 20+ years that we didn't have goats on the farm. Well spring came around and it was time to decide if I was going to show pigs again. I knew that I would probably go to the shows this year by myself and so I decided goat would be easier to do. So I called up some friends of mine who we have shown with for years and got 2 market wethers (fixed boy goats).

I've been working with them this spring. When I got them they were pretty crazy because they hadn't been handled much and were down in south Missouri at this guys other farm. So I had to gentle them down before I started to break them to lead.

Here they are not too long after I got them.
They still don't have names!!! Please help me name them!!!

Last Monday I clipped them for the first time. For the weathers you have to body clip them from the knees up. If I were to have breeding stock you just have to do touch ups and make sure they look pretty. One of them took me almost an hour and a half! His hair had a lot of little soft hairs and the clippers just clipped little chunks at a time. At first I thought the clippers were bad but then I got started on my second weather it took only like 5 min on his whole body!

Half way done

I ended up having both of the boys in the same class so my friend had to help me show. They each weighed 85 and 82 pounds. I got 2nd place and last place. Which wasn't that bad I guess for their first show. Plus I'm doing this for the fun of it. Next year is my last year and so I'm just going to enjoy the rest of my time showing.

Five Minute Friday- Fall

I have decided to do another 5 minute Friday linking up with Lisa Jo Baker. It's kind of fun and will help better myself as a writer hopefully.

A little update I started my summer semester this week so I've been kind of busy with that. I'm only taking 2 classes so it's not that bad. I'm taking American History which is kind of fun and I have a great teacher for that class. Then I have physiology which is stuff that just goes way above my head. It just doesn't click with me. But it's only the first week we will see what happens over time.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Here is the prompt:

1. Write for 5 minutes flat for pure unedited love of the written word.
2. Link back to her website and invite others to join in.
3. Be generous and leave an encouraging comment for the person who linked up before you. That’s the best part about this community.

This weeks topic is : Fall

GO

When you have a dream or a goal that you want to accomplish in life the only thing that you think of is succeeding. I'm not saying that it's not a good thing because if we didn't think we could do it in the first place why even try to pursue it. But I'm going to tell you that the road is not easy and many times along your journey you are going to fall. For me especially there are many dreams that I have and at this moment in time I feel that I am about half way up my mountain of achieving some of my dreams. At one point I think I'm on the right path and have got a good foothold and am making lots of progress when all of the sudden something happens or someone tells me I can't and I fall and end up right back down that mountain. I can honestly say that I have fallen back down my mountain and each time it happens I get so mad and sad and just want to quit and never look back. But each time we fall we need to take it as a new lesson and realize that it is Gods way of telling us that it is not the right time and we need to trust that His timing is best. Plus if we didn't fall every now and then we would think that life was easy and I am sure that many of you can agree to the fact that there is nothing easy about life. It is hard and we are going to fall but what we can't do is just lie there we have to get back up, dust ourselves off, and go back to climbing our mountain.

STOP

Have A Great Weekend!!!

Applesauce Muffins

This is another recipe my mom has made for years. I mostly remember her making them and taking them to school if it was our turn to bring a snack. They are one of my favorite muffins. Recently another blogger had posted on Facebook that her daughter, who is in 4H, was looking for muffin recipes to make for her project. So we dug up the recipe and I shared it with her. I then decided to make a batch and thought I would share it with all of you as well! I hope you enjoy!

Ingredients:
1 c. Butter/margarine softened
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. applesauce
4 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
1 c. powdered sugar

 Cream butter

Gradually add sugar and beat well

Add eggs, 1 at a time and beat

Add applesauce and mix well

Combine the dry ingredients

Add to the creamed mixture and mix well

Fill greased muffin pans or cupcake liner lined muffin pans 3/4 full.

I used this scoop to scoop out my batter. It is just a 1/2 cup (I'm guessing) Ice Cream scoop. It works so well and the batter comes out of it so easy and it's less messy!

Bake at 350 degrees for 14 minutes or until done.

Transfer to wire racks and sprinkle with powdered sugar which I forgot to do and didn't realize until the next day!!!! So that's why the ones in the pictures don't have powdered sugar on them.

NOTE: Batter will keep in refrigerator for 1 week.

Yield: 7 dozen mini muffin 3 dozen regular sized muffins
