Favorite Finds Friday

Ok this week I've decided that instead of finds I find on Pinterest I'm going to do some antique finds that I've found in real life. I love going to auctions, thrift stores, antique stores and garage sales. I have found some of the coolest things well the coolest things to me at some of these places. I had mentioned once that I collected chicken stuff in a previous post and a fellow blogger had wanted me to talk more about them. So I thought I would include some of them in this post to since most are antiques. I have way to many to share all of them but here are a few of my favorites I might share some more on a later date. I would love to hear about some cool antiques that you have found or if you like antiques.

This I got a couple of weeks ago at a new antique store in a town close to me. It's an old crock type jar for marmalade. I added the flowers for a pop of color. I love vintage containers with the old labels.

I have about 4 or 5 different chicken salt and pepper shakers. This set I got last year on my senior trip in Branson in a little antique store.

Yes I have a hope chest don't judge! I secretly wish I lived in the 1800's so I have a dowry :) This one has kind of a cool story along with it this guy bought it new for his fiancé in 1940. He then went and served in WWII. He bought it for her so she had a hope chest. There is an engraving inside with her name on it which is really cool to know the history of an object.

Wednesday my friend and I went to a thrift shop looking for some furniture for her apartment and I found these things along with a cookbook pictured below.

This is one of the weirdest things I've found. It is a bright orange ashtray shaped like a bathtub. I don't use it as an ashtray but instead a coin dish or to hold bobby pins.

A chicken print that I got at an auction.

I LOVE OLD BOOKS. Well I love books in general but old books and cookbooks are even more cool. I plan on having a library in my future house and I have to start collecting books now. The cookbook on the left was the book I got at the thrift store it's dated 1972. Then the other two books are books that I got at garage sales this weekend. The middle book is a cowboy/western book which is pretty interesting. Then the green one on the right is a book called Listen to the Land. It is a book made by the Farm Journal about life on the farm. It has several stories and a few poem things about farming which I will probably share someday.

    1. It's not too heavy but it does have some weight to it. If you go to look for won scan household auctions. That's where I got mine. I've seen several over the years.

  3. I love looking for old "aggie" things in thrift shops and yard sales too. It's not easy to find stuff sometimes, but it's so cool when you do! Great finds!
