30DOB Day 14: Pet Peeves

Not a hard one. Lot's of things bother me or tick me off.

  1. Being Late. I try to be early everywhere I go. Everyday for class i'm there around an hour early. I feel that if i'm not rushed I can get all my stuff out and go over that day's agenda. If I wake up late or get anywhere late it just throws off my whole day. I also don't like late people. I mean if I tell you that i'm going to be somewhere at a certain time you best be there too. I have probably 1000 other things to be doing and I chose you so don't waste my time!
  2. Fake Country/farm people. Ugg don't get me started. There are so many girls and boys who are so fake and claim they are country and it just makes me mad. Sure I get the appeal to want to put off the country image of a hard working, honest, family oriented person but so many people don't. They wear their fake boots, hats, and shorty shorts and go out and say their country. I bet none of them would last a day on the farm.
  3. When people tell me what to do. I am the type of person who likes to do something by myself. If anyone tries to butt in and tell me to do something else I hate it. I'd rather make the mistakes on my own than have someone tell me "your gonna do that wrong, here do this". Just leave me alone!
  4. Drama. YUCK! When people intentionally try to start crap and start hating on other people it just disgusts me. I just wished everyone got along.
  5. When people burp in public. I do not need to hear your bottle functions thank you very much. Go to a different room or outside if you are going to burp. I know some of the most disgusting people who burp and fart constantly in places I really don't think are very appropriate.

I could go on and on but i'll stop there. These are some of the major ones.

30DOB Days 12&13: Favorite Style of blogging and A Recipe I Recently Tried

OK so this is going to be a couple of posts rolled into one. I feel they are both similar and so they fit well together. I have been so busy this weekend with work, church, and studying so I had absolutely no motivation and really no time to blog.

I think this one is obvious. My favorite thing to blog about is food :) I love posting recipes and photos of food that  I've tried. It's one of my many passions and I love sharing good food with people.

Here's the latest recipe I've tried. Let me tell you it was AMAZING and also one of my April goals!!

Chocolate Souffle

Ingredients:
3 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped fine
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 cups plus 1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup boiling water
2 egg yolks
2 tspn vanilla
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
8 egg whites- room temp
1/2 tspn cream of tartar
6 peices of dark chocolate candy -I used kisses
2-3 tablespoons powdered sugar

Directions:
Position oven rack in bottom 1/3 of the oven and preheat to 375 degrees. Spray the inside of 6 10oz ramekins, or oven proof baking cups, with non stick cooking spray and sprinkle with sugar to coat evenly.

In large bowl, place chopped chocolate, cocoa, and 3/4 cup sugar.

Whisk in the boiling water. When chocolate is completely melted, whisk in egg yolks and vanilla. Then stir in the flour. Set aside.

Combine egg whites with cream of tartar in a medium mixing bowl. Beat on medium speed until soft peaks form. Gradually add in 1/4 cup sugar and beat on high speed until stiff peaks form.

Fold about 1/3 of the chocolate mixture into the egg whites. Fold in remaining chocolate mixture in 2 additions. Divide batter into prepared ramekins.

Drop dark chocolates into the middle of each souffle just before baking.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the top has formed a nice crust and the sides appear cake-like. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Dig in immediately!!!!

30DOB Day 11: Did You Ever See Yourself Doing What You Do Today?

Did I ever see myself doing what i'm doing today? Well, the college thing yes the nurse thing not so much. Growing up I wanted to have every profession known to man. Vet, cowboy, farmer, horse shoer, meteorologist, geologist, auctioneer, chef, baker, elementary school teacher, stay at home mom, stock contractor, doctor, x-ray tech, a hobo, Ag teacher, photographer, and many many more things. But for some odd reason I chose nurse! But you know what i'm so glad I did. In the past 2 years that I've worked as a CNA and have been in nursing school I've experienced soooooooo many amazing things and I wouldn't trade any of them for anything. It's really taught me to be a better person and has really challenged me. I have to say that I believe i'm on the right path and that this is truly where God wanted me.

30DOB Day 10: Where Do I See Myself in 10 years!

Wow this is a tough one. In 10 years I will be 31...wow that's scary i'm still having a hard time believing that i'm going to be 21 this year!!
  • Hopefully I will have graduated LPN, RN, and BSN schools and will be working my dream job as a ______nurse (your guess is as good as mine!)

  • I'd like to be married by then and maybe have a kid or 2. Wow another scary thought. I'd better get on that :)

  • Chances are i'll be living in some amazing state like Wyoming, Alaska, Texas, Maine, Louisiana, Montana or who knows where.

  • If all things work out towards my favor I might own a bucking bull or two or at least have a partnership in one.

  • If my parents have anything to do with it i'll be moved out of their house by then! I keep telling them that i'm not ready for this whole grown up thing and will live with them forever. They on the other hand have me moved out in the next couple of years!! Ha :)

  • Hopefully by then I've at least traveled out of the country at least once and have been to at least another 20 states that I haven't been to.

If this all happens I will have to say that I'd be a pretty happy person. Well guess it's time to go looking for a husband and get back to studying!

30DOB Day 9: A Favorite Poem

A Prayer in Spring

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.

Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.

And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.

For this is love and nothing else is love,
The which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends He will,
But which it only needs that we fulfil.

30DOB Day 8: Favorite Photograph

This was a very hard one because I love taking pictures. Not necessarily of myself but I'm always running for my camera or my phone to capture a special moment! As I was going through all my photos to find the perfect one I decided on this one. My mom and I came across this last year at Thanksgiving. I have seen many pictures of my grandparents but not this one and I just loved it! It really shows how much they loved each other and I can only hope someday to have that same kind of love! Together they ran a successful business, raised 3 daughters, had a garden ever year, and were very active in their community and church. They are both huge role models to me!

30DOB Day 7: What Do People Not Understand About Me?

Well, I feel that this is another post that's gonna get a little personal. I think that there are so many things that people don't really understand about me and don't really know why I do the things I do. So here are just a few of the things that I've struggled dealing with.

I don't drink or party- I know your thinking wow shes a 20 year old college kid what is wrong with her. I have sooo many people around me who do drink and party almost every single night and weekend. I've seen the poor choices they've made and criminal charges they now have against them and I just don't want to be mixed up in that. I have had a couple friends say to me that the reason they drink is because it helps with their emotional problems. I'm sorry to say but drinking has gone from a recreation to an addiction. It's just no fun to see the people you use to care so much for get caught up in that crap. Now i'm saying that i'm never going to drink, hello i'm turning 21 this year, but i'd rather it be a drink every now and then than trying to get plastered every night.

I hate group projects-This is something I've been struggling with this since I was in kindergarten. Every time a teacher said we had a group project due I was always thinking ugg can I just do it on my own. It's just I would rather do it on my own and not have to worry about pleasing the other people in my group. They want things done their way and I want things done my way and most of the time I just let them have their ways because compromising just doesn't work.

I am extremely uncomfortable in large groups- I was so lucky growing up that when I was in elementary school I had a class of maybe 20 and then my graduating class in high school had 22 kids with maybe 100 kids in both high school and jr high! It wasn't overwhelming and you knew everyone. I hear people talking about going to a school that they met new people on graduation day! I also try to avoid any place or even that there is going to be a large group of people. Hence online college courses and nursing school where there are the same 26 people all day every day. I would be perfectly fine living in the middle of nowhere with no people for miles. I love people but just one on one or in small groups :)

I have a gypsy soul- I absolutely love to travel and would give anything to live out of a suit case in hotels. It's always so exciting when an opportunity for a trip comes up! Visiting new places, trying new foods, learning the history about the place just makes me extremely happy! So many people are afraid to travel because they don't want to leave their little bubble of their hometown that they've lived in their whole lives. I think their really scared to leave to realize that there are better things out there and they won't want to come back! Now don't get me wrong I absolutely love my small hometown. Everyone knows everyone and it's just comfortable knowing everyone takes care of each other but there are so many places to explore and people to meet and I just want to go and don't want to be tied down!

I hate being the center of attention- I know some people who know me are like yeah right. In some cases I can be rather talkative and can make my presence known but it's usually because it's about something i'm passionate about. But most of the times I just want to slide by and go unnoticed. I can honestly say that I'm not looking forward to getting married! LOL Not only will all those people be watching me but i'll be wearing a dress as well another thing i'm so uncomfortable with. If only I didn't have all this cool stuff on pinterest for the perfect wedding, i'd totally go to Vegas or a court house to get married!

I mostly get along with all types of people:For as long as I can remember I've tried to get along with everyone I really hate controversy and drama so I try to avoid it. I use the "innocent until proven guilty" theory when meeting people. If i meet them I get to know them and if they show me that they are a good person great but if they try to cross me or do something behind my back, where done. I can count numerous times where I've met someone and was quick to judge, which i'm not proud of but it happens sometimes, and then gotten to know them and they are some of the most kind hearted individuals. But then it's happened the other way around as well. I've met someone who comes off as nice and innocent and then they end up being fake and rude. So if your good to me i'll be good to you but if your not then I don't need your energy!

I don't like to fail- I wouldn't say i'm an overly competitive person but I just hate to lose. Growing up I showed livestock and through that I've really learned to be a gracious winner and not to be a sore loser. It's just such a disappointing feeling when you work sooooo hard and then you come up short. I think i'd rather lose flat out and be last than come up second. When you come up second or just out of a qualifying spot it really makes you think about those little things you messed up on and that if you changed those little things you could have made it. I don't want to be known as a failure.

I am Old fashioned- I have to say that I was born at least 100-200 years to late. I touched base on this a few days ago about liking old things. It's something that a lot of people who I grew up with just couldn't accept and really made us grow apart. I like to write/receive hand written letters, I appreciate antiques, I like old country music, and like going to museums! On my senior trip we had one day that we could go shopping at the Branson Landing. It's just an outdoor mall with every day modern shops. On our way down there we drove down a street just a couple of blocks from the Landing and it was lined with antique stores. So instead of going with the rest of my class to Victoria secret, Hollister, or Debs I walked a little extra and found those antique shops and I was in heaven!!

I hate working with women- This is rather funny because I am going into the wrong career field!!! If I didn't love nursing, the human body, or caring for people I would have never become a nurse, simply because of the drama! Currently I am working in a nursing home and I have been to several other nursing homes, hospitals and clinics through clinicals and one thing they have in common is that there is DRAMA! I have yet to go to a hospital where they weren't talking about someone behind their backs or complaining about another coworker. I'm sure it's like this other places but I've noticed it in the hospitals since it's a more woman dominated area. I just wish everyone could just get along!!!

I like to make people happy- I am frequently trying to make people happy. I love sending surprise gifts, letters, making food I know someone likes for no reason at all and much more. I know that through blogging I've tried to let someone know if they've really impacted me with their writing. I always like it when people do special or nice things for me and so I always want to be someone who can make someone else happy.

Wow I just felt like I wrote a book but these are just a few of the things I feel that people don't really understand or know about me!

30DOB Day 6: The Perfect Sunday

For me most Sundays are the same and they are usually not that fun. I work 10 pm- 6 am so I get home around 6 am. sleep until 10 ish drag myself out of bed and try to make myself presentable for church. Then I get home from church around 12 and then it's back to bed until 4. I get ready for work at the pizza place and am there until 8 pm. Then it's home watch some Amazing Race (GO COWBOYS!!!!) and then it's off to bed! Not fun at all :( Since my normal routine is rather boring I've also come up with what my dream Sunday would be!

The Perfect Sunday:

The perfect Sunday for me begins not with an alarm clock blaring in my ear but rather the sun hitting my face.

A bountiful breakfast of french toast, bacon, and eggs is awaiting me downstairs.

We are then off to church to praise our lord with beautiful song and prayer.

After church we have no place to be, no people to cater to, or a homework assignment due. I have time to relax with a good book, bake a pie, or heaven for bid take a nap!

In the late afternoon there's time for a Sunday drive around the back country roads. Just admiring the beauty of the early spring day and snapping a few pictures of nature.

Then it's back home to share a meal with family or friends just admiring each other's company.

Then it's off to bed to prepare our bodies and minds for the week ahead.

Ah tis just a dream! If only, if only it were actually that way.

30DOB Day 4: These are a few of my favorite things.....about spring!

I absolutely love spring I think that it just might be my favorite season. Here is a list of why I love spring!!

  • The weather! I love thunderstorms, warm weather, cool mornings, and rain!

  • Planting a garden. Even though i'm not going to plant one this year it's always a favorite thing to do in spring. I love receiving seed catalogs in the mail and going to green houses to pick out plants.

  • Spring is a time for dreaming! During winter everything is so depressing but when spring comes around you have hope for tomorrow. You start planning for the summer and brighter sunnier days ahead.

  • Easter. I love Easter. We've done Easter the same for my whole life. Sunrise church service early in the morning followed by breakfast. Then we head up to my Great Aunt and Uncles house to have dinner with my dad's side of the family. It's always a great day .

  • Babies. There are baby animals everywhere. The little calves and wildlife all around are just so cute. We have 3 calves right now running around and they are so cute when they are out running around.

  • Spring is a great time for the bees. They are starting to come out of their hives and are now on the search for pollen. You start catching swarms to in the spring which are so fun to do!

30DOB Day 2: What Makes Me....Me!!

For the longest time I really struggled and wasn't ever really comfortable with sharing or expressing the things that made me, me. At times it was easy to just go with the crowd and just keep those things myself but I think deep down it really hurt not being able to share, with others, what I love. I'm a unique soul and have so many unique interests and really until recently never had anyone to share those special unique things with. No one in my class or my friends enjoyed the same things that I did and so I never felt the need to share or if I did I was afraid of what they would think. I know that's so terrible I should have never cared what they thought but honestly high school can be hell and teenagers can be jerks so it was so much easier just hiding it.

So anyway enough with the deep feelings and on to the unique things I like that make me, me....

Family: Honestly I think the biggest factor that determines who I am is my family both living and dead. I have had the privilege to know so many of my living relatives but to also have a family so invested in learning about the genealogy and past family members. In learning about all of them I've come across many family members who share so many interests and the same drive and passion that I have. It's such a cool feeling to be able to connect with your history and it really makes you feel like you belong.

Bees: This is one of the things that makes me a little different. There aren't many 20 year old women beekeepers. Mostly old men! But it's a hobby that I've really grown to love over the past few years and have loved sharing my passion with others. Bees have brought so many people and opportunities into my life.

Old Things: Growing up with parents who loved history we were always watching the history channel, visiting museums, or reading books with historical influences. I also grew up around auctions and people who collected antiques. Today people want everything to be new and extremely technological but me the older the better! I have many collections of antiques and I absolutely love learning the history about a place, object, or person. Old things have so much more character and intrigue than new things.

Food: Most everyone knows from the bazillion photos I post on FB and Instagram, that I love to cook! For years I've loved cooking, reading recipes, learning family recipes, and watching cooking shows. It just strikes a certain note in my heart when someone eats something I make and it makes them happy! No better feeling in the world!

Nursing: I guess it's a good thing that I'm excited for my future career path. Doing clinicals I've gotten to experience many aspects of nursing and have really felt so sure that this is what I want to do with my life! I love to learn about all the different disease processes and about what to do in different situations. Now the big thing is getting through school :(

Books: Back when I had time and wasn't so busy I loved to read. It wouldn't be anything for me to read a book in a day. But through books you learn soooo much and get to experience places that you might never get to visit.

This is only a small window to who I am. I have so many more interests and passions that really make me, me!!

30DOB Day 2: Biggest Fear

Some times I feel like i'm scared to death of everything. Bears, snakes, mountain lions, sharks, heights, etc. But probably my biggest fear would have to be for the future. Kind of lame I know. I am a planner, and have to have things all organized months in advanced. So with things like school and life I just want the best out of everything and don't have time for unexpected hardships. I think that's another reason that when something does go wrong I freak myself out way out of proportion because it ruins the plan I have for myself. But I do have to say that I've changed a lot since starting nursing school. It's really opened my eyes to a lot of things and I've just started trusting more in God and really just living life for what it is. What will happen will happen and i'm just going to have to be happy with that!!
